Position Overview:
Candidate shall be confident in their ability to install and interconnect and test wireless base station equipment in various technologies. Candidate is required to professionally install cable, cable trays, grounding wire and mounts, DSX’s, radio equipment, and label devices and cables. Additionally, be responsible for testing wireless equipment and reporting results. Candidate should possess good communication skills, and be able to work well individually or in a team environment and be able to travel throughout western Canada.. Strong coordination skills are an asset, as you will be managing other field technicians. You must be able to perform duties under tight schedules and ensure success for your team. Must maintain professional integrity and presentation at all times with internal and external contacts.
Job Requirements:
Equipment and Installation knowledge of the following would be a strong asset;
Harris radios, Widebank 28 mux, Fujitsu Flashwave, Wireless Base Station Equipment (Ericsson, Lucent, Nokia) and WiFi equipment and antennas.
Incumbent must be able to perform the following tasks;
- Oversee and manage 1-2 field technicians.
- Install and interconnect the above equipment from customer work order document, including varies types of cables, connectors, and cable trays.
- Perform end to end hop tests verifying minimum acceptable received signal levels and bit error rate (BER) count.
- Label and/or tag all new cables and wiring at originating and terminating ends to telecom standards.
- Install DC power distribution panels and interconnect to main power panel and equipment.
- Notify Supervisor of defective or faulty equipment, and ensure its return to the warehouse.
- Coordinate materials and tool requirements and review scope of work prior to departure to site and commencement of work.
- Communicate any questions or concerns prior to attending job site or commencement of work to Supervisor.
- Follow and educate safe work procedures instituted by the company and provincial regulatory.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures (sign-out equipment, tools, timesheets, etc).
Skills Required:
Candidate must be efficient in the following;
- Utilize Anritsu and Wiltron test equipment, Sitemaster software, Optical Power Meter, and T-BERT test equipment.
- Installation of wire wraps, and coaxial weatherproofing kits.
- Installation of ground bars, ground wire, and utilizing megher test equipment.
- Power tools, crimp and wire wrap tools, label maker, volt meter, coaxial connector tools, soldering iron.
Qualifications:
- College or Technical Institute Diploma in Electronic or Telecommunications preferred
- Two (2) years plus related experience in the installation of wireless telecom equipment
- Completion of a qualified Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training course
- Be proficient in the use of Windows computers and associated software
- Valid First Aid and/or CPR Certification
- Valid Drivers Licence
- Must be able to speak and write English fluently
